Cisco Networking Workshop | Bengal College of Engineering, West Bengal
Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow. – Anthony J. D’Angelo
Passion can be used as the exact word for the sixty-five students who attended the recently (February 21 – 22, 2016) conducted workshop by I-Medita on Cisco Networking. Passion, when channeled in the right path and right direction can create the fortune of life. In today’s world networking and IT industry has grown so big in size that every day, it has to be revised and modified. Educating passionate minds and guiding them in a proper direction has always been our motto. Passion drives young minds to think out of the box and come up with new ideas. However, in order to think out of the box, one must be clear with the basics. Hence, for the very purpose, Bengal College of Engineering and Technology played host to I-Medita for the 2 days Cisco Networking Workshop. Mr. Kola, the coordinator, was assisted with the hard work of Mr. Chandan Kumar, Mr. Avinash Kumar, Md. Farhan Raisi, Mr. Ashutosh Kumar Jha, Mr. Baibav Kumar and Mr. Ashutosh Kumar Jha for arranging the workshop. This teacher-student combo prepared for the workshop fantastically. With a combo like that, backing the arrangement and ensuring everything went smoothly, the workshop was bound to be a success.
DAY 1 of Workshop
The day started rather usually. Students were warmly welcomed by the coordinators, the verification was done and they were seated soon. Mr. Kalyan, exchanged warm greetings with the students by sharing some inspiring and motivational instances. The trainer was warmly welcomed by the students and the teachers. The importance of networking and basics started. The trainer went on to teach the layers, protocols and revised technologies which forms the base of networking. Received with curious questions and well discussed answers, the workshop went on smoothly. The topics that were taught are as follows
- Area Networks ( LAN, MAN, WAN, PAN)
- CSMA/CD technology and topologies.
- OSI Ref Model and TCP/IP Ref Model.
- Fast Ethernet and installation of physical components for Wi-Fi.
- Networking, coding of devices, Subnet Masking.
- IPv4 and IPv6 protocols and coding.
With so many new things to learn, the students were compelled to be excited. They were taught with much patience and care, ending the day on a happier note.
DAY 2 of Workshop
The well-enlightened students were soon seated in the computer labs and directed with the proceedings of networking. Each and every student was given a kit, which was their virtual teacher and helped them practice on their own. The trainer then started the practical with teaching them how to design their own networks how to connect various devices and showing the demonstrations real time routers and switches. With the help of videos and visuals, the students learned the basics of routing.
Soon the projector started rolling and brains working as guided by the trainer, the basic practical completed with the minds being “stormed with knowledge” and the young brains were ready to go for the final testing of their virtual setups.
As soon as the practical got over, it was exam time, time for a final quest. A quest that would give them the gateway to India’s Biggest Networking Championship Grand Finale. The quest started with a simple problem. With all the students competing with each other, the fastest three were chosen. With certificates ready, the students were soon certified and cleared their many new found queries.
Hence ended another successful chapter from I-Medita’s diary of many successes.
