2 days National Level Workshop on Cisco Networking in VIT Vellore

On the shimmering morning of 19 March 2016, the students of VIT, Vellore were prepping up to attend a 2 days workshop organised jointly by I-Medita and VIT University.
I-Medita is considered as India’s Most Trusted Cisco Training Company and offers Training program on CCNA, CCNP, CCIE. In last Two-Year of Existence, they have trained more than 20,000+ students from various colleges at Pan India Level through with their Unique Hands-on workshops and are also trusted by more than 200 Colleges for various kinds of Training in their campuses.
As VIT’s motto says: “A place to live, a chance to grow”, one gets a lot of opportunities whether it is academic or extra-curricular, to showcase their talents and to bring out the best in them. It is ranked 13th among ‘Top 100 Engineering Institutes for Research and Teaching’ in India by National Institutional Ranking Framework (MHRD) in 2016. Recognized as deemed university by UGC Grade ‘A’ accreditation by NAAC.
Happy and jubilant as ever, yet another sublime workshop had it not been for the valiant work of Prof. K.S., Prof. kumar along with Mr Dharmendra, Mr Chandel, Mr Islam and Mr Chetan.
Day 1 of workshop
With Student Coordinators, up and rolling, over 85 participants were soon verified and seated in the seminar hall.
On the commencement of the event, Mr Ravindra the trainer was warmly greeted by coordinators after their morning pleasantries and motivational speech. There was a quick interactive session between students and trainer.
The students were then taught about the basics of wireless networks and their workings.
- Understanding the data flow in a wireless network.
- Differentiate between wireless networking standards.
- Successfully connect two or more Wireless Clients
- Implement Basic WLAN Security
- Configure real-time CISCO wireless devices
- Describe how wireless control system works
- Troubleshoot basic connectivity and security problem in a wireless network design
Day 2 of workshop
The practical session was even more enthusiastic had it not been prompt and courteous arrangement provided by the coordinators and a handful help of students. The practical session had the students agog. Each and every student was given a kit, which was their virtual teacher and helped them practice on their own. The trainer then started the practical with teaching them how to design their own networks how to connect various devices and showing the demonstrations real time routers and switches. With the help of videos and visuals, the students learned the basics of routing.
Soon the projector started rolling and brains working as guided by the trainer, the basic practical completed with the minds being “stormed with knowledge” and the young brains were ready to go for the final testing of their virtual setups.
As soon as the practical got over, it was exam time, time for a final quest. A quest that would give them the gateway to India’s Biggest Networking Championship Grand Finale. The quest started with a simple problem. With all the students competing with each other, the fastest three were chosen. With certificates ready, the students were soon certified and cleared their many new found queries.
Hence, accomplishing to plant the seed of learning and networking in the minds of the students. A day to be remembered.
