Cisco CCNA Networking Workshop at MIT Mysore

Evolution is a process of continuous change, a journey of constant learning. Such Changes always bring about the necessary developments. From the analogue era to the present digital world, everything has been about changes and better versions of the older ideas and technology.
Recently on 18th September 2015, I-Medita shook hands with Maharaja Institute of Technology, Mysore, and a two-day workshop was held. The ever growing and enthusiastic young brains registered for learning the basics of Cisco Networking. The workshop was beautifully coordinated by Faculty Coordinators. The workshop was held at the seminar hall was where the arrangements were made. Around 120 Students participated and were benefited from the workshop. Planning a workshop is not a cake-walk unless there are little helping hands, Darshan, Goutham, Arun Shekar and Vinay Kumar H made sure that workshop was a big success. After the warm morning greetings between the coordinators and the students, the workshop was ready to take off.
The workshop started as it was scheduled to start by, 9 am. The young students were seated half hour prior to the start of the workshop. The student coordinators coordinated the new entries and arranged the morning pleasantries. Soon the students were seated. The lecturer arrived shortly. The students were then seated to learn the basics of internet and how did the navigation work. The topics discussed are below as follows:
- Understand the basics of internetworking,
- Understanding how data flows in a network,
- Differentiate between networking devices,
- Understand the physical connectivity of routers and switches,
- Understand different routing mechanism and routing protocols,
- Understand the concept of switching: Packet Switching and Circuit Switching,
- Configure different routing protocols in a network,
- Configuration and Troubleshooting of Real-time Devices.
- Understand Routing Security and Switching Security fundamentals,
Soon the day was to come to an end with many new revelations.
DAY 2 (PRACTICAL):
The next morning was been the last day of the castle. The students were guided and seated n the computer lab. The trainer started off the session with displaying the real-time devices and clearing doubts related to the previous session. call Real-time practicals were performed on Routers and Switches. The student coordinators helped the students with other doubts. Soon with the projector rolling and brains working the basic practicals was complete and the young brains were ready to go for the final testing of their virtual setups. The various topics that were covered in the basic practical were:
- Sub-netting and masking.
- Troubleshoot issues
- Monitoring tools
Soon with the practical was over and it was exam time. Students geared up for the competition as the top three students would get a Unique National Level Excellence Certificate. With all the students competing with each other, soon the fastest three were chosen. The certificates were ready and the students were soon certified and attended a doubt clearing session.
