Two Days Networking Workshop for CSE students of SNJB College, Nashik
Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow.– Anthony J. D’Angelo
I-Media has always invested its efforts in educating students, brining students together, bringing minds and thoughts together. Such efforts have always led to many workshops, fests, training programs and placement programs. Knowledge is never limited and for a student, learning is the biggest passion and this was right proven by the students of SNJB’s Late Sau. Kantabai Bhavarlalji Jain College of Engineering, Chandwad. When a Cisco networking workshop for cse students was kept on 6-7 Sept the students and their enthusiasm was commendable. The preparation and arrangement for the workshop also was commendable. The workshop’s success was proved by faculty coordinatros along with the student coordinators Chavhan Rahul, Deore Roshan , Deore Punam , Desle Vidya, Khule Mahesh work and dedication for the workshop. With the workshop being conducted and discussions being held, it was a step closer to a brighter and better youth.
Networking Workshop Day 1
The day started with much chatters, warm welcomes and heartily felt hello’s and hi’s amongst the students. The coordinators had arranged everything well in advance and hence the workshop started smoothly. The greetings were shared amongst the teachers and the trainer with a very motivational speech by the teachers. The importance of networking and the basics was then started. The trainer went on to teach the OSI Model, layers, protocols and revised technologies which formed the base of networking. With many curious minds working their way up to the new fascinating pieces of information. The topics that were discussed with much fascination were:
- Area Networks ( LAN, MAN, WAN, PAN)
- CSMA/CD technology and topologies.
- OSI Ref Model and TCP/IP Ref Model.
- Fast Ethernet and installation of physical components for Wi-Fi.
- Networking, Configuration of devices, Subnet Masking.
- IPv4 and IPv6 protocols etc.
With so many new things to learn, the students were all amazed with how simple things make up for such complex networks.
Networking Workshop DAY 2 (Practical)
The next day started off with much discussion and doubts as the students had completed their homework. The students were given a CD each that contained many practical (self-help) sessions, the virtual simulator to set up links and many important books to refer from. Students installed Cisco Packet Tracer and started the practicals .The students were then shown the real time devices that are used in real time routing. The trainer then showed how the devices are configured with needed requirements. The basic protocol flow was also introduced.
The topics that were mainly covered were:
- Routing Protocols
- How to Configure Routers and Switches
- Network Security and much more.
As soon as the practical got over, it was exam time, time for a final quest, a quest. The quest started with a simple problem. With all the students competing with each other, the fastest three were chosen. With certificates ready, the students were soon certified and cleared their queries.
