What is CCIE? (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert): CCIE is a technical certification which is a second highest level certification (after CCAr). The CCIE certifies the skills required to design, build, implement, maintain, or troubleshoot complex enterprise networking infrastructures. Depending on the CCIE tracks in several different categories of Cisco technology: Routing & Switching, Service Provider, Security, Collaboration, Data Center, and Wireless.
Types of CCIE :
There are total six numbers of CCIE certifications. You can attempt Lab Exam after the completion of written exam. CCIE Certifications are valid for 2 years and after every two year, you need to recertify your certification. These are the following Tracks.
CCIE Routing & Switching: This is an expert level to the technology of networking. CCIE Routing and Switching certification program ensure you stay relevant with new sets of technologies relevant to Routing and Switching.
CCIE Security: In this certification focus is more on Security i.e. security protocols, implementing security policies, modern security risks, alleviate multiple risks of an organization.
CCIE Wireless: This certification provides knowledge for amplifying expert level CISCO wireless configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting and support skills for optimal performance of CISCO wireless network.
CCIE Service Provider: This program is for expert level Service Provider Network Engineer and it is for designers who focus on latest service provider trends and techniques.
CCIE Data Center: CCIE certification provides a candidate to maintain expert level data center technology and complicated infrastructure for IT data center. CCIE Certification is at your best if you are working in Data Center or planning to do so.
CCIE Collaboration: This is the certification of architects which is in high demand in the networking market. CCIE Collaboration provides voice, video, data and complex mobile applications and makes you applicable for demanding IT industries which increase your professional value.
CCIE Lab Exam:
The lab exams are the very most important examination to be cleared. There are different lab exam for different tracks like Routing and Switching, Security, Service Provider, Data Center, Collaboration, Wireless and syllabus for the same courses are different. A lot of practice, hard work and self-study are required to crack ccie lab exam.
- CCIE Lab Format: The 8-hour lab format consists of 3 modules that need to be taken during the day of the exam:
Module 1: Troubleshooting module (2 hours)
Module 2: Diagnostic Module (1 hour)
Module 3: Configuration Module (5 hours)
A candidate can borrow up to 30 min from the configuration section and use it in trouble shooting section.
- Cost: Cost for CISCO Lab Exam for different courses may vary due to the exchange rates and local taxes (VAT/GST). Expenses like travelling and hotel services do not include the lab exam cost.
- Result: After the completion of CISCO Lab Exam the result is declared online within 48 hours.
